INSPIRATION: This Persian quatrain by Mir 'Ali of Herat is elegantly written in nasta'liq script. Featured in an album for Shah Jahan, it is framed by a rich paper collage and a naturalistic border by Dawlat Khan, depicting deer, antelopes, and birds. The artist's detailed work rreflects possible Western influences at the Mughal court.
